Biography
Kira Biener (she/they) is a rising senior at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, studying Climate Science, Environmental Geology, and Computer Science. During this summer as a RESESS intern, she will be filtering and analyzing core samples from El Kef, using the TEX86 iso-GDGT proxy to produce a temperature record from the time surrounding the Cretaceous/Paleogene boundary (K/Pg). Kira is very excited to be working in the Geo-bio/Geo-chem lab this summer and hopes to apply what she is learning towards understanding the climate system and mass extinctions through time.
